Scholarships for First Years

I thank you all for keeping this blog active by regular visits. And I thank all the authors who work behind it and those who helped us in keeping this blog updated. TIGER FIVE football tournament….

Hey CECian,

Here are the details for the Inter-batch football tournament, the TIGER 5’s. There will be four groups, each with a team from S3,S5  and S7.

The four groups are:

(A) S 3 A  —  S 5 C   —   S 7 D

(B) S 3 C   — S 5 B    —   S 7 C

(C) S 3 D   — S 5 D   —   S 7 B

(D) S 3 B   — S 5 A   —   S 7 A

The inauguration will take place on the 23rd of September in the CEC football field, at 4.00pm. All the CECian’s are invited to be present there for the occasion.

There will be two matches per day. The matches will take place from :

Match1 :    4:20pm-5:05pm    and

Match2 :   5:15pm-6:00pm

Watch out for more fun as the sporting extravaganza rolls out…

Tiger Five from 23-Sept-2009 onwards…

The inter- batch football tournament of CEC, the Tiger 5’s , will commence on Wednesday, the 23rd of September, 2009 at 4.00pm in the college ground. The tournament shall be inaugurated by the Principal, and the detailed schedule follows.

.

CEC is set to witness more action as the tigers are unleashed . This event is set to witness mass participation as it showcases the football talent of CEC, and an opportunity for each of them to shine out. We are extremely happy to announce this event and invite you all to join the fun and sport.

As you all know, CEC was the co-organizer of the event IEEE 125th Anniversary: R10 Student Congress which held at National University of Singapore, Singapore from 16th-19th July, 2009. This was another feather to the crown of CECians that they played a major role in the event. Here’s the report of the whole event and the feedback CECians gave for the event.

Report of Seminar on “Tantalum Polymer Capacitor and Silicon Nano Crystal Devices”

Venue: Auditorium, College of Engineering Chengannur

Date:  14th September, 2009

Time: 4.15 PM- 5:30 PM

The seminar was based on Tantalum Polymer Capacitor and Silicon Nano Crystal Devices. The seminar was conducted by Mr Githin F Alapatt, graduate research student of Clemson University and College of Engineering Chengannur Alumnus. The seminar was taken by Mr. Githin F Alapatt with the aim of motivating the students to take up research and go for higher education. The other member on the dice was Prof.(Dr.)V.P Devassia, Principal, College of Engineering Chengannur and a total of 72 students attended the seminar.

The seminar started at 4:15 with the welcome speech by Mr. Rahul Raj, Chairman IEEE CEC. The presidential address was delivered by Prof.(Dr.)V.P Devassia, Principal, College of Engineering Chengannur. This was followed by the seminar by Mr Githin F Alapatt. The seminar covered basic electronic concepts and his research topics, which are “Tantalum Polymer Capacitor and Silicon Nano Crystal Devices”. He gave a brief idea about new technologies in research. During the presentation he talked about the various possibilities of research and how his research had helped him. He talked about the research facilities available in India and those abroad. The talk presentation was over by 5:00 pm. The seminar was followed by an interactive doubt clearing session were doubts about Silicon Nano Crystals and about the possibilities of doing research abroad was discussed. At 5:30 the doubt clearing session concluded and a Gift, as a token of our appreciation was awarded to Mr. Githin F Alapatt.

After the event few students stayed back and talked with Mr. Githin F Alapatt about research and higher education. The theme of the seminar and the idea of doing research attracted many first years to the event and they have also shown there willingness to join IEEE.
