Dear CECians,
.
.

I am here with a request, in need of a help from you all. As you all know, the Students’ Executive Senate is the supreme student body of our college. But, by inspection, we could see that the CONSTITUTION of the Senate is not that rigid and well-written.

.

In discussions on this topic, during the last senate meeting, we were asked to re-build the Senate Constitution so that it fits and covers all the aspects of the Student Activities at CEC.
.
.

So, I would like to hear your comments and suggestions in this regard. It would be nice if you kindly let me know what all changes/additions is to be made to the current ones.

.

You can mail your suggestions at: chairman [at] ceconline [dot] edu

.

P.S: Current Constitution of CEC Senate can be downloaded from the link below, for reference.

Dear all,

.

In response to the request from CEC Senate 2009-10, PRODDEC has submitted their Annual Work Report in time, and they are the first student body to respond to the aforesaid. Besides, they’ve done it marvelously, and I strongly believe that it shall be, of course, an inspiration for forthcoming years to go on with their works in a far better manner. I, on behalf of Senate, would like to thank and appreciate the team!

PRODDEC Annual Report 2008-09

(In Brief)

.

PRODDEC, born in 1995, has since proved to serve as a common platform for product development, creating thoughts and logical reasoning of both electronics and computer science students. PRODDEC has completed another year of activities.

Under the guidance of Ms Deepa  J, Staff coordinator of PRODDEC, the activities of this year were inaugurated by the adoption of the PRODDEC charter and the executive handing over. An executive council was formulated extracting the young dynamic brains from the student community.

The various activities of PRODDEC during this academic year included familiarization classes, project assistance to students etc.

PRODDEC conducted various classes and workshops for the students to improve their practical knowledge and skills.

The computer hardware familiarization workshop was conducted on 19-02-08 for the first semester students. It included a presentation about the hardware components and a hands-on session for the students to familiarize the hardware components.

An electronic component familiarization class and workshop was conducted for the first semester students on 24-03-08.  It included a presentation about the electronic components and a hands-on session for the students to familiarize them.

PRODDEC conducted a series of classes on the C programming language particularly oriented towards the students of the first semester and third semester. The classes were guided by the students from the fifth semester.

A series of workshops and classes on web technologies and web designing was conducted from 1-09-09 to 04-09-09 for the first and third semester students. A team of students were selected from the two batches for the college website committee.

To improve the practical skills of the students, PRODDEC conducted a series of workshops on PCB designing and soldering.  Students from the fourth semester attended the classes.

PRODDEC provided full technical support for the various events conducted in the college. The members were instrumental in ensuring the technical outlook of the various co-curricular activities of the college.

The centralized registration software for the sports meet was developed and used for the first time during the sports meet 2009. The new version of the software is currently under development and the full fledged system is expected to be used this year onwards.

For the first time in the history of CEC, the registration for the arts festival was made online. PRODDEC developed the website for the same.

The college witnessed peak of technical activities during SUMMIT 09, the technical festival organized by our college. PRODDEC participated actively in providing the technical support during SUMMIT 09.

The project expo conducted in the college as a part of SUMMIT 09, was organized by PRODDEC. PRODDEC conducted a project programme for two months prior to the event to develop the exhibits needed for the expo.  As part of SUMMIT 09, PRODDEC developed the website for the event, the software for event administration, software for conducting the online event and the prelims of various events like c debugging, web designing and linux guru. It is a proud aspect that the event administration software developed for SUMMIT 09 has been used in two other similar events in different engineering colleges in Kerala after SUMMIT.

PRODDEC developed the digital scoreboard for Campion 09, Intra IHRD football tournament organized by our college. The website for the event and the system for the inauguration of Campion were developed by PRODDEC.

This academic year was for sure, a period of resurrection for PRODDEC. Let us hope that the strive for technical excellence remain un faded in the minds of the students.

Students’ Executive Senate 2009-10

EXECUTIVE MEETING MINUTES – IMPORTANT NOTES ONLY

Meeting No: 1 (in the academic year 2009-10)

Dated: 18th September, 2009.

Time: 1:00 PM

Venue: Conference Hall, CEC.

The meeting was chaired by the Chairman of the Students’ Executive Senate 2009-10, and commenced with a silent prayer. All the executive members attended in the presence of Prof. (Dr.) V P Devassia, the Princpal, CEC and Mr. Jayadeep Kumar J, Staff Advisor, CEC Senate.

Agenda 1: Use PTA Fund for the activities of college like arts, sports, campion, college day, scholarship for brilliant but financially poor students. Principal asked to submit a proposal to the Secretary of PTA from Senate showing the specific details

Agenda 2: Extra-fund needed for KELI 09, the CUSAT Annual Arts Fest 2009 other than TA, DA to meet event expenses. If competitive requests are given, funding may be allotted from within the limit of 10% of the total SAF.

Agenda 3: To postpone the second series examination dated between 12th-14th of October, 2009, due to the precedence of KELI 09 dated between 6th-10th of October, 2009.

Agenda 4: Permission to allow 3rd year students to have Industrial Visit outside Kerala

Principal said that it was the Government order that the students may not be allowed to go outside Kerala due to H1N1 flu. He will update the status about it and asked all batches to give the proposal for their study tours.

Agenda 5: Increase the representation of girls in Senate

Principal asked no such necessity exists for a small UG institution like ours. However he suggested increasing their representation by acquiring some of the present posts itself.

Agenda 6: Language lab is more needed for 3rd and 4th year students. But they are not getting it in requirement. Regarding the slot distribution of other batches, we may talk to PTA Secretary and give a proper proposal for changes in the slots. Principal pointed out that it would be better if s7 student representatives accelerate PTA fund collection.

Agenda 7: Permission for opening the gate near the YMCA hall for the convenience of bike parking. Students are facing great trouble due to proper parking area. Senate suggested that parking area can be provided in the shed near the library. Sir said that since there is as such no closed region for parking, he cannot permit parking of bikes inside the campus. Due to lack of security 3 gates cannot be kept open at a time. He cannot take a decision as of now as the matter is not synchronizing with prevailing campus rules.

Agenda 8: General Facilities

1. Window glasses and ceiling fans of most classes are not in proper condition

2. Provision for providing curtains

3. Photostat machine in library is frequently out of order

4. Adequate measures to ensure that the coolers are frequently cleaned and well maintained.

5. Podium and curtain of auditorium are old. Consider a replacement.

6. Request for a rolling projector to fix in auditorium along with PA System

7. Request for providing fan near the place available for net facility in the library

8. Request for getting facilities for SRUTHI Music Club

Agenda 9: Progress in construction of new building

Favorable results are expected soon as PWD has already tendered the work.

Suggestions by Principal to the Senate

1. To give due importance to academics along with other activities

2. To introduce a Newsletter for the College

3. To have a plan for using the funds available for a year before the commencement of Senate activities.

The meeting was concluded at 3:15 PM.
