Hey guys,

.

The 17th college day celebrations of College of Engineering Chengannur were held on the 22nd of February in the campus. CEC had much to cherish and thank in the successful completion of 17 years since its inception in 1993.
The college was established with a vision to create engineers having the drive, skill, and confidence to become the pioneers of tomorrow. The year that went by was more esteemed than many before. The celebration spirits and display of talent once again proved us true to our goal.

.

The college day for the year was celebrated along with Women’s Day. The day’s activities were scheduled for 9am. They began with the Malayali Manka\Sreeman competition in association with Women’s day. The event was hosted by the sixth semester batch and had student representation from all the four batches. The event was conducted to select the best Malayalam talent in the college, amongst the boys and girls. Mr. Nithin (S8) and Ms. Meenu (S4) emerged the champs. The programme filled the audience with frequent crackles of laughter and cheer. Once again, the competition spirits were rose sky high.

.

The official function of the CEC college day began at 10.45am as per the schedule with a prayer by the students. The General Secretary, Mr. Jibin John welcomed the gathering. This was followed by the Presidential address and the presentation of the College report for the Academic year 2009-010 by the Principal, Prof (Dr.) V.P.Devassia. The year that passed had much to be proud of and quite a few losses too, still left incomplete. The Chief Guest for the day was Dr. D Vinaya Chandran, distinguished poet and social worker. He addressed the students in his typical style and made the audience spring to their feet by his poetic recital.
The official function was quite too special for CEC as we had a few things to unveil. Those few things without which a college life is never complete. The release of the College Magazine, Percentum (? / 100) brought wide cheer and appreciation. The people who worked behind the magazine too were honored on the occasion. Once again, a great work from Sajeesh E.S, the outgoing Editor, and his team. Following which, the Magazine Staff-In-Charge, Mr. Gopakumar addressed the audience. The release of the first ever Official Newsletter of CEC was something that the 2010 batch can ever be proud of. The team under Shibin M.K, the Magazine Editor, has done us all proud in giving an official tongue to CEC. The launch of the Official Alumni website took place thereafter. Mr. Alok Mohan and his website committee have done commendably well. The team which worked under the college magazine 2009 were also honored on the occasion.

.

The 2009 batch initiative Suraj Sebastian foundation, in memory of the late college Chairman, Mr. Suraj Sebastian was officially declared open and a stack of books was installed at the college library.
The PTA topper award was given to Ms. Anna Koshy of 2009 CS batch. The best NSS volunteers for the year were Ninan and Deepthi of 2010 batch.

.

The General Secretary presented the Annual Senate report after which the college Chairman, Mr. Arunanand T.A and the PTA President gave their felicitation speeches. The Senate Advisor, Mr. Jayadeep Kumar gave away the certificates for the Senate Executive members since 2007. He announced the best Student award which went to Surya T Skariah of 2010 EC batch. The Vice-Chairperson, Ms. Deepthi Thomas expressed the Vote of Thanks.

.

The stage was set for Variety Entertainments by the students, as they displayed their talent on the stage in front of a vibrant and enthusiastic audience. The special program for the day was a Ganamela by Pala Communications featuring their best artists. The programme came to a close by about 6:45pm.
